So, I just thought I’d pop in here super quick with an update on how my job search with Remote Rocketship went. I mentioned in a prior post that somehow, possibly while surfing LinkedIn, I came upon their remote jobs app, and thought I’d try it out. At just $21 per month (I think?), it seemed like a reasonable investment, with the ability to cancel at any time if it didn’t yield for me, or if I didn’t happen to find the app useful *but I did.
I did find Remote Rocketship useful
I was able to do a quick install of the Remote Rocketship app on my phone, sign up with email, and get a job search going in just a few minutes. The whole password thing wasn’t that big of an issue, compared to what I sometimes go through with other sites (SendGrid comes to mind… horrible login problems over there).
At first I checked off as many job search keywords as possible. But I quickly found myself overwhelmed with too many job listings that didn’t apply to what I do for a living (which is copywriting and content writing).
So then I narrowed down the search to just one of my chosen keyword phrases, and was able to find a good selection of content writing jobs that met my qualifications and experience.
How to apply to jobs on Remote Rocketship
If you’re wondering how to find and apply to jobs on Remote Rocketship, it’s pretty easy. Start by downloading the app. It’s quick and painless! The price at just $21 per month is quite reasonable. You can cancel at any time.
One by one, I applied right on the Remote Rocketship site. Their process went as follows:
- Click on the job title to learn more about the company and the posted role.
- Follow the instructions for applying.
- Upload your resume.
- Add your cover letter
- Respond to any included questions.
- Click SEND.
Some companies will redirect you to their Careers page, where you’ll be asked to create a login, upload your resume and type in your details.
Other jobs on Remote Rocketship will have you filling out the application form directly from the app. You can upload your resume from your phone, add a cover letter, and then hit Submit.
About a week went by, and I didn’t receive any emails regarding the five or so jobs that I applied to.
Some company responded to my job application on Remote Rocketship
Today, I got a rejection email from one of them. Success!! (I guess).
At least now I know that the jobs on Remote Rocketship are legit. The work they’re posting roles for seems to be from decent companies. Their main brag is that a lot of the jobs they share in their aggregate feed do not come from LinkedIn or Indeed. I think we are all fed up with the spam and fake job postings coming from those. It’s actually a little scary, honestly.
Should you wait for a blue moon to apply to Remote Rocketship? No, you should try their job search right away.
I say this because I know how grassroots efforts go. There will be a point where this rocketship blasts off. No kidding.
Momentum is building now, but they haven’t hit their peak yet I don’t think. With so many positive reviews on the site, though, I can see that they’re on the way!
Don’t believe me that this is a grassroots upstart with an actual, real guy running the show?
Here’s Lior, Remote Rocketship’s creator. Cool guy!
