A Huge Pitch List for Freelancers

Hey, freelancers! It’s me, Dina, with an update. The list of company contacts that I’ve been compiling is almost complete. Yes… I plan to revolutionize the job search in 2025. Just little old me, spotting the problems and wanting to fix them so that you and I and that frustrated marketing manager can link up professionally. Your cold pitch list for freelancers is coming. Get on my list and I’ll send it to you soon!

Why do we need a pitch list for freelancers?

This website was developed in support of freelancers like myself who work in copywriting, creative, marketing, design, web design, tech, etc. That list of company contacts that I mentioned — the pitch list– is for you to use to hopefully get some good gigs. I figure if we have the most updated names in one spot, it’ll be easier to approach them for freelance work, or take a look at their careers page and apply there. Because the job sites like Indeed aren’t working. We know this.

While I was doing this research looking up names of corporate marketing department heads, one thing became crystal clear to me (we already knew about it, but seeing it CLOSE UP brought a hard smack of reality). Here’s the thing. NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION. If you go the regular route, which would be to apply to jobs and gigs you spot on the job sites, you’re going to be buried. Absolutely buried – no one’s going to see you. But if you show up in the inbox, or cold call… that could be your “in,” maybe.

how to get freelance clients

What about just applying on LinkedIn and Indeed?

Things have been really volatile… in particular, the marketing departments are not stable. You’ll look up contact info and it’ll tell you the name of someone that was at one company and now they’re at another. Or there might be no marketing leadership at all right now and you’ll see a job posting because they’re actually looking to fill the marketing director position.

Just try to picture what that looks like on the inside… a bird’s eye view of the marketing department’s daily functions. Who’s on first? With all these companies having had to let people go, whoever’s left is scrambling. They’re not caught up. What do you think they’re going to do when 47 emails come in from Indeed or LinkedIn? Nothing. Those mails are getting deleted, or at best, just piling up, unread.

With this in mind… if ou’re the job/gig hunter waiting for a response from LinkedIn or Indeed, that might not always be reliable for you. I’ve already read about hiring managers who can’t keep up with the deluge that is their inbox from job sites like Indeed. So… they’re not SEEING you if you’re coming in from over there. Does this make sense?

working for clients

Imagine, they’re over there buried in work. Then you show up with your freelance pitch.

You might want to actually go the side door route and show up with a pitch letter and your resume and your face. I can’t say what will happen, but this is just what’s going on. And like I said, I’m finding it all out by making the pitch list. Pretty obvious everyone in marketing is running around in total confusion. Will you show up as the relief? Or will you just keep responding to fake job posts and backlogged opps that no one sees?

Sign up to hear from me via email… and yes I’m asking for more info than usual when you fill out on the form. That’s how I vet real humans to hook up with, versus bot profiles and fake jobs.

Yes, I am a real person. No, I will not spam you or share/sell your info. But the job sites probably WILL. So there’s that to think about.

For now, you’ll get a list of legit freelance job sites in PDF format when you sign up. After that, I’ll be following up with the aforementioned list of contacts to pitch.

Keep on keepin’ on, freelancers!
