3 Things You Must Have to Start Working for Clients Immediately

Are you stuck in a freelancing loop… wanting to start working for clients, but feeling totally fragmented, going in different directions daily?

You’re not alone. A lot of creatives are doing this, and most of us are aware of it. We’re stuck in a state of flux. But we can’t figure out how this happened or how to stop spinning in unproductive circles.

Why is it so hard to start working for clients?

  • Too many social media distractions. (How many pointless conversations did you read/participate in today?)
  • Too many directions to go in. (Should I bid for jobs on Upwork? Should I do cold calls? What website platform should I choose?)
  • Worrying about the financial/time investment. (Is it worth the cost of web hosting? Should I stay up all night uploading work samples?)
  • Worrying about high-maintenance clients. What if they make your life difficult, and waste all your time on nonbillables?
  • Lack of a plan. (Good morning! What should I do today? I guess I’ll log on and read LinkedIn posts again.)

Let’s just quick-solve these problems so you can get out of the unproductivity cycle:

  • Schedule your social media check-ins. Maybe it’s ONLY when you’re in the bathroom 😉 or on your lunch break.
  • Put the money and time into perspective. What can you cut out of your life to make room for a beautiful freelance site that’s going to get you paid work? What can you stop spending money on that will help you afford the VERY LOW YEARLY investment of having your own website?
  • Come up with a disaster plan for escaping bad clients, and a system for attracting amazing clients who are a perfect fit for your skills and work style.
  • Write down a list of goals and to-dos. If you’re not sure what these should be, check out my e-guide on how to work for clients.

I want to tell you EXACTLY what to commit to, TODAY, if you really want to land some client gigs and put the brakes on your runaway imagination.

You need an action plan that will move you closer to landing those first few clients. I’m going to give it to you right here.

Quick Action Steps to Begin Working for Clients ASAP

If you’re tired of being stuck in standby mode, use this to-do list as your anchor point. It’s time to build a freelance business working for clients.

  1. Gather your samples. It can be a small batch to start, but it has to be SOMETHING.
  2. Make a freelance website. You need an online home where your portfolio lives.
  3. List out potential clients you’d like to contact. This could be former clients, companies that align with your brand, and/or opportunities you find on the job sites.
  4. Craft your pitch and reach out!

I’ve distilled it down. Now, working for clients suddenly feels so attainable, am I right?

But then, you know as soon as you get going on one of the steps, it’s going to get complicated.

That’s okay. I’ve created a freelance guide to working for clients.

The guide is meant to support you, fuel you with strategies, and make a plan to get rolling with.

I’ve priced the guide very reasonably. Why? I’m a freelancer like you. I GET IT, and I’m doing what you’re doing.

I think we’re all exhausted and tapped out. We’re trying to justify expenses like the high profile coach’s $99 monthly coaching, or the $997 instant payment for a freelance starter kit (whaaat? Don’t tell your hubby!!)

AND many of us freelancers just can’t bear to sit through another guru’s Live coaching talk.

My Freelance Guide is Easy to Read, Contains Useful Information, and Costs as Much as I Myself Would be Willing to Spend on This Type of Resource.
